Jewellery Workshop – Metal Clay

led  by Lisa Fahy of  Studio C

Saturday 11th June 2011

10 a.m.-2 p.m.

All materials supplied and home-made lunch provided.

Spend the day learning to make your own jewellery in an intimate and joyful setting.  Relax over lunch and leave the workshop wearing your own creation (a pure silver pendant!)

What is Metal Clay? Metal clay is crafting medium consisting of very small particles of metal such as silver, gold, platinum, or copper mixed with an organic binder and water for use in making jewellery, beads and small sculptures. Originating in Japan in 1990, metal clay can be shaped just like any soft clay, by hand or using moulds. After drying, the clay will be fired in a kiln. The binder burns away, leaving the pure metal. Lisa is an artist and art teacher living in Kiltimagh. She is the only certified Art Clay instructor in Ireland.

The workshop costs 75 inclusive of materials and lunch.

This day can also be part of a Weekend Experience at the Old Rectory Retreat, full board and accommodation provided.

Following the Writers’ Path

A weekend of writing led by Fiona Keane and Fin Keegan of Sixpens

Art for Fun

with Irma Van Baalen

November 13th

All materials supplied and home-made lunch provided .

This day is designed both for people who have never painted and for those who have loved to do so  in the past but have not had time or perhaps confidence to pursue their interest. One of my goals is for people to become more relaxed and free in making art.

The starting point for the day will be a still life, but who knows where we will end? We will use pencil, ink and charcoal in the morning and acrylic paint in the afternoon.

I believe there is an artist in everybody. You may or may not be technically brilliant. Just have the courage to do it anyway. If you keep on making art of whatever kind, you will develop your own style.

Cost : €60 incl. of all materials and  lunch.
