Writer’s Testimonial’s

New: An Tigín – The Writer’s Cabin

For two weeks I stayed in the Tigin , which was my wonderful writer’s cabin in a beautiful rural setting. I was able to really immerse myself in my writing in the quiet and solitude of the Tigin.   I found it was great that this was balanced with the sociability of going to the main house for a hearty breakfast and a tasty dinner.  At the end of the writing day it was so good to go on a beautiful walk. Just across the road from the Old Rectory there are a number of spectacular looped walks.  These are on very quiet rural country roads and so I soaked in the views of Croagh Patrick and the scent of wild flowers.  Roisin gave us a very warm welcome and we had memorable discussions about writing and about life.  I would highly recommend the Old Rectory to  writers working on a book, book chapter or journal paper.

Writing Workshops

I’m still as high as a kite! I had a wonderful, wonderful week-end and can’t thank you enough for having the dream and then organising it all so gracefully. I’ve heard it said that if you leave something behind you mean to return, well I certainly do mean to return!

Annie

People get all sorts of things out of Róisín’s place. I’m not, like some others,an aspiring novelist. I just like to write. The insights about the art of writing and the prompts hat Fin and Fiona provide are so helpful  for me. They send me on trails of thoughts and emotions, stories and words that I’d never  have come up with on my own. There’s Roisín, writing her novel and cooking and providing for us all a the same time.- She integrates it all. And now there’s Carolyn – Shiatsu massage was new to me – but I had a second one within days. What a way to treat yourself and get on with your writing.

May from Belfast.

I thoroughly enjoyed the creative writing workshop at the Old Rectory Retreat this July. I was a non-resident as I live close by but the ambiance  the food, craic was  wonderful and I felt completely at ease. The writing inspiration supplied by Sixpens leaders was plentiful.
