Meet Your Hosts…

I’m Róísín –  your hostess and general organiser. From the first time our family set eyes on The Old Rectory at Knappagh we knew we wanted to share it with others…so this is a dream come true. I grew up in a small Guesthouse in Dublin where every second visitor was a passing musician or writer and regular sessions were my father’s delight. I’ve worked in amateur and community drama and written with and been involved in writers’ workshops on and off over the years. Having hosted and cooked for so many family and friends’ gatherings which included evenings of music and poetry and found our house offered a creative space in many ways, it seemed a logical step to extend our hospitality to the wider community.

Hi everyone. My names Josh and I’m the youngest of this family.  I’m 23 and I’m part of the welcoming committee here during the summer. I play the guitar and I’m currently studying music in college.  I love all kinds of music and I’m always eager to meet any musicians who pass through the Old Rectory Retreat. I’d like to think I’m an open-minded person and I’m always up for an interesting chat.

Hi, I’m Annie. I can’t believe how perfect that blurb is. It really describes what it’s like to stay at home for a bit, or what it’s like when there are visitors around. You can see some of my art on the walls and dotted around the house and garden. Please feel free to add to these if you wish! We’re all pretty easy going, so hopefully you’ll really feel at home and welcome.

My name is Maitiú. I’m in a drama group. I love acting. I will be your waiter and put out your menus.  I set the tables and help with washing up. I help to carry bags for visitors too.

Dhia dhuit,  My name is Roie and I am one of Roisin’s many friends and as such, her enthusiasm for the “Old Rectory Experience” has cast its magic spell, the result being that my house Danú, and me too…..will be available when the Old Rectoroy is bursting at the seams and when the need arises for a very large room with mountain and sea views !
I thought I lived at Gloshpatrick, Murrisk but when I told a curious aul fella from Westport where EXACTLY I lived (towns land being of the utmost importance !) he said AH ! now I know where you are…… God’s pocket and that’s just a perfect description of where I do live.  My house nestles at the foot of Croagh Patrick looking directly out to Clew bay and it doesn’t get much better than that !!!  Look forward to meeting some of you very soon.
