Hosts
Meet Your Hosts…
I’m Róísín – your hostess and general organiser. From the first time our family set eyes on The Old Rectory at Knappagh we knew we wanted to share it with others…so this is a dream come true. I grew up in a small Guesthouse in Dublin where every second visitor was a passing musician or writer and regular sessions were my father’s delight. I’ve worked in amateur and community drama and written with and been involved in writers’ workshops on and off over the years. Having hosted and cooked for so many family and friends’ gatherings which included evenings of music and poetry and found our house offered a creative space in many ways, it seemed a logical step to extend our hospitality to the wider community.
Hey everyone! I’m Josh and I’m the youngest of this family. I’m 18 and it’s my job to keep the family sane. I play guitar and have been doing so for 7 years. I record music as much as I have time for. I’m interested in a very wide range of music such as World, Jazz, Afro-Beat, Funk, Dub, Rock and Hip-Hop. I’d like to think I’m a very open-minded person. I’m always up for an interesting chat or debate!
I live permanently with Róisín and am always around to help. Any questions are welcomed and I will always do my best to make your stay enjoyable.
I mow the lawns and try to keep the garden in good condition. As well as being a general helper I also cook. My favourite things to cook are Italian based dishes and salads. I love to spend time when I’m bored trying out new recipes and testing them on my family to make sure they’re just right. At the moment Róisín is the Boss and I’m the commis chef but…
Hi, I’m Annie. I can’t believe how perfect that blurb is. It really describes what it’s like to stay at home for a bit, or what it’s like when there are visitors around. I’m the eldest one, so obviously wise enough to know that it’s me, rather than Josh who keeps us all sane! I do that at long distance from Dublin, where I’m studying Art. I’ll be at home some weekends, and more often during the summer; when I’m not there you can see some of my art on the walls and dotted around the house and garden. Please feel free to add to these if you wish! When I am here, I’ll be the one cooking up soups and generally pottering around. We’re all pretty easy going, so hopefully you’ll really feel at home and welcome.
My name is Maitiú. I’m in a drama group. I love acting. We put on two shows every year. My favourite was Mama Mia. That’s my biggest hobby. I love to swim and play bocce and bowling as well. I will be your waiter and put out your menus. I set the tables and help with washing up. I help to carry bags for visitors too.
Howya, I’m Mick, or Micos as I like to be called. I look after the cottage. I write and play my own music and many other people’s music too, so you’re more than welcome to join in and jam. Slán and hope to see you soon.
